These majestic falcons are THE fastest animal in the world, achieving speeds measured up to 250 mph during a dive.
The dive of a peregrine falcon is called a "stoop".
Beware, these falcons do not build nests! Instead, they dig through gravel and create a shallow scrape to live in. That is when they are not residing on the top of sky scrapers of downtown Hartford (and other major cities), or the underside of large bridges.
From our field observations, it appears that some peregrine falcons bite their nails just like people. Life as a raptor can be stressful.
